RPL Presents: Thriller Writer James Hayman
6:00 PM -

We are pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling thriller author, James Hayman, to the library.

Like one of the heroes of his thrillers, Detective Sergeant Mike McCabe, James is a native New Yorker. McCabe was born in the Bronx. James was born in Brooklyn. And they both grew up and spent much of their working lives in New York City before eventually moving to Portland, Maine.

However, that's where the similarities end.

The Cutting, the first book in the McCabe and Savage Thriller Series, features Mike McCabe and Maggie Savage - a pair of Portland, Maine detectives.

ReadME Summer Book Club: Paris Was the Place
6:00 PM -

Join us for our statewide summer book club!
July's book selection is Paris Was the Place, by Susan Conley.

"When Willie Pears arrives in Paris, she's looking for adventure. Even so, when she takes a job teaching at a center for immigrant girls who are all hoping for French asylum, she does not expect to feel so connected to the ups and downs of their lives...but as Willie learns the girls' histories, the lines between teaching and mothering quickly begin to blur, leading her to make a risky move that will threaten to upend the life and relationships she's found". (from the publisher)

ReadME is a statewide program sponsored by the Maine Humanities Council. This year's books were selected by bestselling Maine author Tess Gerritsen.

Copies are available in the Taylor building.
