This traveling exhibit from the Maine Folk Life Center at the University of Maine will be on display in the Rice building for the month of July. Four panels highlight the diversity and history of fiber arts statewide, particularly the textile traditions of Maine's Anglo, Indigenous, Finnish and Franco communities.

Wit uncommon courage, the omwen speak their hearts and minds about resistance, lvoe, assimilation standards of beatuy, power, school experiences, and more.

Join us at RPL for Living History with Andy Volpe -
Roman Legionary
!





 

This program focuses on the Roman soldier during the first Century, roughly 60-120 AD/CE at the height of Roman Legion prowess.  He will explain the origins of the Legionary, his arms, armor, and equipment (and bring demonstrations).  Andy discusses the everyday life of a Legionary, what was expected of him, as well as discussing the Fighting Tactics and strategy of the Romans--and will demonstrate combat techniques with audience participation!  Andy has presented at the (former) Higgins Armory and Museum of Science in Boston.
