The library will be reopening with pickup window service and modified hours beginning Tuesday, May 12, 2020, as part of the Town of Kittery's Phase 1 Reopening plan.

At this time, there will be no patrons allowed in either library building.
Public computers, print/copy services, and faxing will not be available, although Wifi is still available in our parking lots.

During Phase 1, patrons will not be able to browse our shelves to select items.
There are three ways you can order library materials:
  • Calling us at 207-439-1553 x2,
  • Emailing us at arabella@rice.lib.me.us (be sure to whitelist this email, or check your Spam folder if you haven’t heard back in a few hours)
  • By placing holds in the Minerva catalog (see video below.)

Please wait for a staff member to get in touch with you before you come to the library. Our pickup time slots will run every 10 minutes for the following hours:
  • Tuesday 10-4:30
  • Wednesday 12-6
  • Thursday 12-6
  • Friday 10-4:30
  • Saturday 10-1:30

Patrons will be asked to follow standard social-distancing measures while waiting for their turn at the window.

You can return your items only to the Library’s Book Drop at either Rice or Taylor, not to the Pick Up Window. The Book Drops are open and ready for use. All print books will be quarantined for 72 hours, and audiobooks and DVDs for 7 days until they are checked in and rec-circulated (per most recent CDC guidelines). You may still see returned items checked out on your account while they're in quarantine; please call the library if they are still there after 7 days have passed. You will not owe any fines on them.

These selected items can only be items that are available at Rice Library. The interlibrary loan delivery service is not available during this time.
